What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Commercial Real Estate Underwriter position at FAIRWINDS?

Primary Responsibilities:
- Completes Credit Approval Memorandum
- Reviews and analyzes borrower financial data, including corporate statements and business tax returns to assess financial strength and stability.
- Reviews and analyzes personal financial information for guarantors including personal financial statements, tax returns, personal credit reports, real estate owned schedules, and liquidity statements to determine financial strength of guarantor.
- Works with the Lender to structure and obtain all necessary information to underwrite credit requests that serve the best interest of the Member and FAIRWINDS.
- Determines Member and Loan Risk Rating
- Prepares spreads of business and personal tax returns.
- Identifies opportunities for expanding the existing relationship
- Offer mentorship to junior underwriters and provide guidance and support as needed
- Assists Portfolio Managers with annual reviews and renewals as required.
- Ultimately accountable for protecting FAIRWINDS by providing an unbiased and objective view of the prospective borrower and loan opportunity by disclosing and mitigating all material risks in the credit approval memorandum
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), preferably in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent in specific work experience. Master’s degree in related discipline or formal credit training preferred.
- Minimum four years of related experience in Commercial Financial Services, Banking, Credit Analysis, Loan Review or similar background preferred
- Experience with nCino, Sageworks, Moody’s, and CoStar preferred.
- Must possess strong analytical skills with the ability to clearly communicate findings in both oral and written format.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
