DESCRIPTION

Working under the direction of the FALCON Director, the Reading Specialist Support Teacher assists with student assessment and reading instruction and provides support to the Reading Specialist at Faith Academy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Plans and delivers activities to teach the foundational areas of reading to elementary students.
• Assists with individual student reading assessments.
• May teach small groups of students to maximize student learning.
• Assists Reading Specialist with the analysis of student achievement data and helps adjust instruction based on the results.
• Disseminates strategies that encourage students to think critically and creatively and to solve decoding and comprehension problems while reading.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge about effective reading practices that are based on research preferred.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
