What are the responsibilities and job description for the Houseparent - Direct Childcare Worker position at Falcon Children's Home?
The job is a live in position where the schedule is 2 weeks on duty and living on campus and 1 week off duty. On campus housing can be provided for the 1 week off.
Falcon Children’s Home and Family Services (FCHFS) has been serving children and families in need since 1909. What started out in the beginning as an orphanage is now a multi-faceted ministry providing residential care, maternity and teen mothers & babies care, transitional living facilities, foster and adoptive services and operates a private Christian school on our campus in Falcon, North Carolina. FCHFS also operates another home in Turbeville Children’s Home in Turbeville, South Carolina. We are hiring for both campuses.
We are currently looking for Christian people who have a heart to make a difference in the lives of children. We are accepting applications from individuals as well as husband & wife teams to serve as houseparents on our Falcon Campus. The ideal candidate is, first and foremost, a devoted Christian, that is able to be nurturing, non-judgmental, calm, highly organized, and capable of utilizing a loving, caring approach to provide boundaries and structure to children living in a home-like setting.
- Prior experience in youth care is preferred.
- Applicants must have a strong desire to work and live with youth in homes of both gender and any age group.
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record.
- Applicants must have no criminal history.
- An extensive background check and drug screening will be completed on all applicants considered.
- No more than two dependent children in residence.
- NO PETS are permitted.
- Ability to meet health and physical requirements of the position.
Upon hire, all houseparent staff will go through a detailed orientation process that includes, but is not limited to, training on the various aspects / requirements of the position, as well as, introduction & instruction from key personnel that are involved with direct care services.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide direct care and support to children in a group home setting, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Observe and document children's behavior and progress, reporting any concerns to supervisors.
- Maintain a clean and organized living environment, adhering to hygiene standards.
- Facilitate recreational and educational activities to promote social skills and development.
- Collaborate with social workers and healthcare professionals to create individualized care plans.
