Supervisory Responsibilities : Supervises Activities Assistants and volunteers.
- Responsibilities :
- Assess each resident’s needs for specialised activities and normalisation to maintain as normal of a lifestyle as possible
- Develop and implement a care plan for each resident based on his / her assessed needs and preferences.
- Structure activities and the environment to encourage the resident to feel empowered.
- Manage the activity department including development of the monthly activities calendar, overseeing the budget, maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies through
- cautious use and appropriate requisitions.
- Anticipate and addresses the maintenance needs of equipment and facility.
- Assist manager within the activity department including recruiting, hiring, evaluating staff.
- Ensure activity staff competencies through appropriate in-services, trainings and other opportunities.
- Ensure that staff follows all policies and procedures, regulations / standards in a professional and ethical manner.
- Maintain all required records.
- Promote positive interdepartmental relations and participates in interdisciplinary quality assurance programs.
- Interact with residents on a regular, timely basis with respectful, straightforward and honest communication in a professional manner.
- Interact with facility staff and members of the community on a regular, timely basis with respectful, straightforward and honest communication in a professional manner.
- Write well-organized and clearly written documentation in a timely manner in accordance with regulations and standards to accurately reflect a professional use of
- terminology and appropriate in-depth and scope.
- Provide balanced programming based on the resident’s physical, social / emotional,, and cognitive needs ensuring that such programming matches the resident’s past and current
- needs and preferences and supports the maintenance and development of abilities.
- Support the residents in their pursuit of their chosen lifestyle.
- Maintain a program that meets all infection control and safety criteria.
- Update care plan as needed
- Education / Experience / Licensure :
- The NAAP / NCCAP Ninety Hour Basic and Advance Course preferred and / or a degree in a related field of therapy.
- Two years’ experience in an activities or therapy program using skills related to assessment, care plan
- development and maintenance; documentation; 1 : 1 and groupprogramming; planning a balanced, therapeutic activity program; supervising and coordinating with other staff.
- Successful experience using interpersonal skills to problem solve, communicate (orally and through the written word), motivate others and instill interest in activities for
- Certified Nursing Assistant training required within 6 months of hire and certification preferred
- Activity Coordinator training required through SDHCA completed within one year
- Must have or obtain BLS certification within 90 days of employment
- Current SD Driver’s License (required to be on the facility insurance plan to drive facility vehicles to and from resident activity outings)Fall River Health Services (FRHS) is a comprehensive healthcare system, which services Fall River County and the surrounding areas _
