HIGHWAY/DRAINAGE CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN – TAMPA OFFICE

We are seeking a part-time Engineering Intern to join our Highway & Drainage team. The ideal candidate will be an ambitious and detail-oriented Civil Engineering student, eager to gain hands-on experience in transportation engineering. As an intern, you will support experienced engineers on a variety of exciting, state-wide transportation projects while developing key skills in design, planning and execution.
As part of the FDA team, you’ll work alongside some of the most respected Civil Engineering professionals in Florida, providing an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in the field. Description
- Assist in the design and production of plans using CADD software
- Help prepare engineering reports, documentation, and design calculations
- Support project teams by contributing to the preparation of design drawings and other technical documents
- Assist with field data collection and project research as needed
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to ensure quality and timely project delivery
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on project developments
- Current sophomore or higher Engineering Student with a focus on Civil Engineering or closely related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with basic computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with CADD software, particularly MicroStation (experience in CADD or design is a plus)
- Available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
