Note: Potential to be combined with 50% FTE English Language Development (ELD/ESL) Teacher (Long Term Substitute) to create 100% FTE. If interested, please be sure to apply to both positions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA licensure as a World Language Teacher 5-12 (Language(s): Spanish).
- Experience teaching Spanish Levels 1 through 4, at the middle/secondary school level.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully motivating students of varying ability levels, skills, and achievements.
- Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable and appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain daily and long-range plans consistent with the established curriculum and the goals of the school and district.
- Follow the department curriculum to provide activities that stimulate growth in listening, reading, speaking, and writing the world language.
- Provide instruction and learning activities that take into consideration the individual differences of children.
- Exercise appropriate classroom management to help children grow in the ability to be self-disciplined and accept reasonable responsibility.
- Provide a system for communicating with students, parents/families, counselors, and administrators regarding student learning progress.
- Evaluate student learning, progress, and classroom activities on a daily and long-range basis.
- Attend meetings of department as called, serve on committees for curriculum revision and for the general operation of the school.
- Continue professional growth by attending meetings, seminars, courses and other professional activities.
- Cooperate with staff and principal in extracurricular activities.
- Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal and/or Department Head.
