Location: New Directions Shelter, Families Forward
Salary Range: $55,000 – $70,000
Availability: Monday – Friday, 7 AM – 3 PM (additional hours will be required for events and on-call duties)
About Us:
New Directions Shelter, a program of Families Forward, provides temporary emergency housing to families experiencing homelessness. We are dedicated to fostering a collaborative environment and making a positive impact in our community.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Program Manager to join our team! This key leadership role involves providing guidance and support to our shelter staff, ensuring effective crisis management, and driving our mission forward. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit management, including grant writing and compliance, and a commitment to serving vulnerable populations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Communication: Guide the case management team and maintain clear, effective communication with staff, clients, and community partners.
- Staff & Volunteer Management: Supervise and schedule shelter staff and volunteers for 24/7 coverage.
- Crisis Intervention & Management: Handle crisis situations with poise and apply appropriate intervention techniques.
- Community Engagement: Promote New Directions Shelter through presentations and participation in community meetings.
- Grant Writing & Fundraising: Collaborate with the Development and PR Director to secure funding and support shelter operations.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of services provided.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in nonprofit or human services; at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in MS Office.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform light housekeeping duties.
- Driver's License: Valid Iowa driver’s license required.
