ABOUT FAMILIES in TRANSITION
Families in Transition was established in 1991 as a housing organization for low-income families. Since its humble beginnings with one building, it has expanded to 18 buildings of housing to become one of the largest affordable housing organizations in the state. In 2018, Families in Transition merged with New Horizons for New Hampshire, an organization which has served homeless individuals since 1973. Around this same time, Families in Transition merged with a substance use treatment program, now known as Willows Treatment Center.
Families in Transition is one of the largest homeless services organizations in New Hampshire with locations in Manchester and Concord. It provides innovative and effective interventions specifically designed to help individuals and families break the cycle of homelessness and lead healthy and successful lives. The organization’s belief is that having a home is a basic human right and is fundamental to becoming an engaged and contributing member of the community.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a Director of Human Resources who will provide management and oversight of the Human Resources, Payroll, and Safety programs. Working with senior leaders, you will have an opportunity to develop and execute human resource strategy to support the overall business and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of talent management, organizational and performance management, training and development, compensation, and change management. POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Human Resources:
· Collaborates with leadership to understand and design organizational goals and strategies relating to organizational design, staffing, recruitment, and retention.
· Develops and manages all policies, processes, training, and initiatives to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs.
· Oversees the administration of human resource, payroll, and safety to include but not limited to, compensation & benefits, leave of absences, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, employee recognition, occupational health & safety, and training & development. Oversees the safety committee and is an advocate between employees and management.
· Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization's human resource information system (HRIS).
· Monitors and ensures organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices. Reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance in a changing environment.
· Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies.
· Uses strategic planning methods and techniques to demonstrate foresight in planning for changes in services, work demands, and staffing. Suggests program improvements to meet the strategic and operational goals of the organization.
· Analyzes costs and risks associated with safety and the potential need for improvements. This includes managing and investigating incidents, conduct objective investigations, and work with the safety committee to propose improvements for the organization.
· Oversight and approval of a bi-weekly payroll.
Requirements
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Families in Transition seeks a proven, accomplished professional with:
· A Bachelors in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
· 5-8 years experience in Human Resources.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

· Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's, needs, systems, and culture.
