What are the responsibilities and job description for the VPS Supervised Visitation Specialist position at Family & Children's Place?
The Supervised Visitation Specialist is responsible for coordinating visitation services for children and their birth parents, foster parents, or caregivers and providing transportation for the visits. Discusses behavioral observations and provides information, support and coaching to parents with regard to making successful visits. In all responsibilities, will perform all tasks using trauma-informed services and policies. The specialist provides transportation to children to supervised visits, including lifting and carrying children and car seats. Provides supportive supervision of parent/child interactions, according to court orders, other relevant agreements, including observation, modeling appropriate behaviors and strategic interventions as needed. Provides transportation for children and families to and from supervised visits. Intervenes, when appropriate, to ensure the safety and welfare of the child with trauma-informed, culturally competent principles. Documents and relays information in written and verbal form between the child and the child’s parents, including commencement and conclusion of the supervised visits, (e.g., medication, diet, etc.) to all relevant parties. Performs case conferences (Family Team Meetings) with DCBS staff and clients. Provides on-call coverage 24/7.
- Associate’s degree in child development, education, social sciences or related field.
- At least 2 years’ experience working with children and families in a human service setting.
- Willingness to work primarily in the homes of families residing in high-risk communities.
- Flexibility with respect to time and days able to work as well as to work tasks.
- Experience working with highly stressed families in overburdened communities.
- Work related travel within Jefferson County.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have own transportation. Vehicle must be equipped with seat belts and in good repair and must meet the local standards for children under four years of age or under 40 pounds.
- Must have valid driver’s license, current registration, and proof of insurance on vehicle being used. Liability limits must be at least $100/300,000 level.
- Must consent to a check of his/her driving record annually; excellent driving record required, including no record of impaired driving.
Salary : $100,000 - $300,000
