What are the responsibilities and job description for the VPS Supervised Visitation Specialist position at Family & Children's Place?
The Supervised Visitation Specialist is responsible for coordinating visitation services for children and their birth parents, foster parents, or caregivers and providing transportation for the visits. Discusses behavioral observations and provides information, support and coaching to parents with regard to making successful visits. Provides supportive supervision of parent/child interactions, according to court orders, other relevant agreements, including observation, modeling appropriate behaviors and strategic interventions as needed. Provides transportation for children and families to and from supervised visits. Intervenes, when appropriate, to ensure the safety and welfare of the child with trauma-informed, culturally competent principles. Documents and relays information in written and verbal form between the child and the childs parents, including commencement and conclusion of the supervised visits, (e.g., medication, diet, etc.) to all relevant parties. Documents supervised visits and maintains recordkeeping that reflects trauma informed language as required by the provider & F&CP.
- Bachelors degree required; training and experience in supervised visitation services or related services required.
- Experience working with children in a care-giving role required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have own transportation. Vehicle must be equipped with seat belts and in good repair and must meet the local standards for children under four years of age or under 40 pounds.
- Must have valid drivers license, current registration, and proof of insurance on vehicle being used.
- Must consent to a check of his/her driving record annually; excellent driving record required, including no record of impaired driving.
