What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Office Front Desk/ Treatment Plan Coordinator position at Family Dental?
We are looking for an Experienced Dental Receptionist/ Treatment Plan Coordinator to help run our front desk on a daily basis and to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our office.
Our Receptionist’s duties include offering administrative support across the office. You will welcome the patients and check them in. You will coordinate front-desk activities along with our other receptionists, including distributing correspondence, redirecting phone calls, calling insurance companies, creating and presenting treatment plans.
To be successful as a Receptionist, you should have a pleasant personality, as this is also a customer service role. You should be able to deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner, while streamlining office operations. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position. Ultimately, a Receptionist’s duties and responsibilities are to ensure the front desk welcomes guests positively, and executes all administrative tasks to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at the office
- Have excellent communication skills
- Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office
- Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls
- Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.g. pens, forms and brochures)
- Answer patients phone calls, text messages, emails in a professional manner
- Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email
- Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries
- Creating lists of items needed for office
- Update calendars and schedule meetings
- Work with insurance companies to keep up with up to date plans, fee schedules, patient limitations
- Receive detailed history for new patients, as well as reaching out to previous Doctors for former records
- Present correct treatment plans and able to answer patients questions regarding care in a knowledgeable way
- Sending claims with correct ADA codes (xrays, perio charts, narratives if needed)
- Stay up to date with ADA changes
- Keep updated records of office expenses and costs
- Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing and faxing
Skills
- Proven work experience in the Dental Field as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative, Manager or similar role
- Proficiency with Dentrix
- Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g. fax machines and printers)
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organizational skills
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Customer service attitude
- High school degree; additional certification is a plus

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
