Welcome to the role of Patient Access Representative! We’re excited to have you on board! As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and guests. You will be responsible for greeting patients and visitors, verifying and updating patient information, scheduling appointments and answering any questions they may have. You will also be responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring confidentiality of patient information. Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS within the first 30 days of employment
- Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and other computer systems
- Ability to accurately enter data into a computer system
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via email
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Knowledge of medical coding and billing processes preferred
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet and register patients upon arrival for their appointment
- Verify patient information, such as name, address, insurance details, etc
- Collect copayments and other payments for services rendered
- Assist patients with any questions or concerns regarding their visit • Manage patient scheduling, including making appointments and rescheduling as needed
- Update patient records in the computer system
- File insurance claims and follow up with insurers to ensure payments are received
- Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate department
- Contact insurance companies to verify coverage and obtain authorization for services
- Provide customer service and support to patients and their families
- Work with other healthcare staff to maintain accurate patient information
