About Us: The Family Justice Center of St. Joseph County is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. We are seeking a compassionate individual to join our team and make a significant impact in our community.
Position Overview: As the Outreach Advocate, you will lead our efforts to connect with survivors in our community and provide information about our services and community resources.
The ideal candidate for the Outreach Advocate position combines strong time management and communication skills with expertise in supporting individuals and trauma-informed care. They should possess excellent organizational abilities, demonstrating proficiency in both direct client services and broader administrative tasks such as data management and community partnership building. The right person will be adaptable, passionate about non-profit work, and able to balance hands-on crisis support, all while maintaining a commitment to serving vulnerable populations.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Outreach Advocate conducts outreach calls to all victims of domestic and sexual violence in St. Joseph County (as reported on police reports from multiple law enforcement jurisdictions) within 72 hours of the incident.
- This advocate provides crisis intervention, education, support, advocacy, and court accompaniment for victims of domestic and sexual violence.
- This advocate updates the victim on the civil and criminal process and proceedings through phone calls, letters, and in-person communication.
- Statistical updates on cases and outcomes are provided to the Family Justice Center for the purposes of tracking and grant reporting.
- Participate in the 24-hour crisis hotline support system as needed, showcasing hands-on leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in social work, criminal justice, or related field.
- Demonstrated passion for social justice and supporting vulnerable populations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in trauma-informed and victim-centered approaches to service delivery.
- This individual must have the ability to work independently and provide timely, accurate reports and updates to clients and supervisors.
