**Job Summary:**
We are currently seeking multiple Direct Support Professionals to join our team for the part-time 23-hour shift on Jenta Lane in Watertown, CT. As a part of our team, you will provide habilitative assistance and care to clients living in our various programs, including community and supported living arrangements, family support services program, and day/vocational program. Your responsibilities will include direct daily care, teaching, and supervising clients, as well as record-keeping.
**Responsibilities:**
- Provide direct supervision of clients, ensuring their safety and knowing their status and location at all times.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of each individual client's Individualized Plan of Service or Individual Educational Plan, including teaching, supervising, and assisting clients in performing adult daily living activities.
- Monitor client progress on goals and implement behavioral plans as written, including emergency restraints and procedures when necessary.
- Implement occupational, physical, and speech therapist recommendations and programs.
- Develop and implement recreation and community participation activities for clients.
- Collaborate with Clinical Director, Consultants, families, schools, and other agencies to provide and implement goals.
- Maintain accurate and timely record keeping of services provided to clients and specific goals in each client's Plan of Service or Individual Education Plan.
- Work cooperatively with supervisory staff, other agency staff, and staff from other agencies.
- Attend required staff meetings, in-services, and trainings, and maintain required trainings for the position.
- Administer medications, provide routine health care and first aid to clients.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of program sites, including program equipment and personal items of clients.
- Transport clients to and from designated activities and programs.
- Conduct and participate in emergency drills as required.
- Maintain accurate recording keeping of petty cash accounts and individual client cash on hand accounts.
- Perform any other related duties as requested by the Program Director or the Assistant.
**Qualifications:**
- Successful completion of Medication Certification Program classes are online.
- Successful completion of PMT, CPR, and First Aid training program.
- Valid CT driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED or a Transcript.
- A minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with developmental and/or behavioral challenges is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Physical Demands:**
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force when needing to initiate physical restraint procedures (training provided).
- Ability to talk and hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
**Language Skills:**
- Ability to read and interpret English documents.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English.
**Mathematical Skills:**
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
**Reasoning Ability:**
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
