Experienced Saw Operator/Material Handler

SAW OPERATOR/ MATERIAL HANDLER

Locally owned materials/ supply house located in downtown Wichita is looking for an individual with saw operating experience and ability to operate large machine saws that cut aluminum and steel. This is an entry level temp to hire position with great advancement opportunities. Will train in all areas. Pay commensurate with experience. Former metal saw operating or or similar experience highly preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operating large scale saws that cut aluminum and steel to aircraft industry customer specified sizes
• Cutting material for customers on bandsaws
• Forklift and manual material handling involved - loading, unloading, and moving material within or outside the of buildings
• Inventory maintenance – understanding material locations and availability of product in specific sizes
• Maintain cleanliness of the saw building and inventory areas as well as outside areas
• Customer service (in person and over the phone)
• Working with customers to find materials and filling orders
• Entering tickets into Point of Sale system.
• Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Forklift/ material handling experience preferred
• Ability to read a tape measure with accuracy
• Ability to perform basic math functions
• Detail oriented
• Must be able to follow directions and communicate clearly with coworkers and supervisors
• Self-motivated and reliable. We work a five and one half day week
• High school education or GED equivalent.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
• We DO drug test for permanent positions. We also conduct an extensive background check for employment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Frequent reaching, standing, bending, squatting and twisting
• Ability to comply with safety requirements for manufacturing environment
• Ability to lift 50 pounds independently
• Hours Monday through Saturday – no Sunday or evening work

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in outside weather conditions often.
