Job Summary:

The Executive Director for Family Promise of Green County will oversee operational aspects to ensure a high-performing organization that has the necessary resources to deliver on its mission to help families experiencing homelessness and low-income families to achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. Candidate will provide services to potential families through homelessness prevention services, emergency shelter, shelter diversion and transitional housing.

This position will maintain positive relations with guests, partner organizations, stakeholders, investors/donors, and the media. The Executive Director will ensure the operational effectiveness of the organization and provide inspiration, leadership and vision to staff, board members, and volunteers.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff and volunteers
  • Oversees the daily workflow of Family Promise of Green County.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations to Program Manager and other employees
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Community Relations:

  • Increase positive awareness for Family Promise of Green County and maintain strong relationships with community partners.
  • Represent the Affiliate to the media, government, corporations, and other nonprofit partners.
  • Build relationships with and regularly communicate with supporting agencies. Ensure Affiliate updates are communicated, and feedback is solicited from partner network.
  • Work in collaboration with other providers, school personnel, mental health professionals, and Department of Human Services. Actively participate in providers’ groups and other forums.
  • Meet with community organizations to inform them of Family Promise of Green County
  • Lead recruitment of new community partners. Create partnerships in the community that facilitate positive outcomes for Family Promise case management (landlords, employers, nonprofit partnerships)
  • Maintain web and social media presence.

Board Relations:

  • Engage with various committees to execute organizational goals, engage with individual members to utilize skill/expertise for the betterment of the organization, recruitment of new members.
  • Provide Director Reports for meetings and facilitate strategic discussion of organization’s future.
  • Work with Board President to set meeting agendas. Work with board committees to follow-up on identified action items.
  • Work with Finance Committee to develop and execute annual budget.

Program Management:

  • Ensure Family Promise of Green County meets organizational outcomes and programs are maintained to deliver on our mission, resources are available, and families are cared for.
  • Create and implement programs to enhance services provided to families. Work with Program Manager, Board Committee, and other community and social service agencies

Supervisory and Case Management:

  • In conjunction with Program Manager provide comprehensive case management to families:
  • Supervise Program Manager to provide case management and additional support to families.
  • Conduct interviews with prospective families and develop individual weekly plans.
  • Analyze guest situations, capabilities, and problems to determine services required to meet program needs of guests.
  • Meet with families to monitor progress in securing housing, employment, and job training.
  • Assist guests with social service needs, referring them to other organizations as appropriate. Advocate with agencies for guests.
  • Handle any issues/emergencies swiftly and compassionately.

Management:

  • Lead a high-performing organization: volunteer, board, and staff management.
  • Hire and supervise staff and volunteers. Communicate program needs, goals, and priorities.
  • Conduct staff reviews and provide supervision and feedback as necessary to have a high-preforming team.
  • Identify needs for staff.
  • Hire, train and set goals for staff.

Financial and Fundraising:

  • In collaboration with the Fund Development Committee, ensure that expenses are satisfied, and financial objectives are obtained.
  • Pursue appropriate funding opportunities: grants, individual/congregation donations, corporate giving, and special events.
  • Actively support board fund raising activities

Administrative:

  • Ensure procedures are documented and adhered to for all processes.
  • Be on-call for emergencies during off-hours as scheduled. Oversee on-call scheduling of staff.
  • Maintain records on operations, guests’ outcomes, and programmatic outcomes.
  • Provide reports for the Board of Directors and funding sources.
  • Provide annual statistics and other information to National Family Promise.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to make decisions, solve problems, delegate responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have good communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to make presentations to large groups.
  • Ability and experience in counseling clients in a social service setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of people.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with community partners, volunteers, and boards.
  • Demonstrated success in fund development and financial management.
  • Knowledge of homeless service provision models and programming, local, state, and federal housing authorities, social service agencies and general assistance programs.
  • The ability to think creatively and entrepreneurially and willing to suggest ways to better our service provision.
  • Must have compassion and empathy for our guests and an ability to relate to individuals from different racial, ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly public speaking.

Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of basic computer software, electronic communication internet and social media tools.
  • Ability to pass criminal background check.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience
  • 3 years’ experience in social work, nonprofit management, public administration or related field is preferred.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel: Position will require travel as needed to various community partners as needed. Will require valid driver's license.
