Family Promise of West Michigan is seeking a Director of Emergency Services who will be responsible for programs in Emergency Services (Shelter) and Prevention provided by Family Promise of West Michigan. This role ensures seamless team management, development, program delivery, outcomes, quality controls, and program evaluation for the shelter programs. This position will report to our Chief Programs Officer and will be a full-time non-exempt position that will include supervising program staff and interns.

Our Ideal Candidate will get to:
Human resource management
- Direct, plan and coordinate the work of the program staff and interns including supervision and evaluation, training and team building
- Ensure adequate and qualified staff to carry out the program activities
- In consultation with the Chief Programs Officer, responsible for the selection, hiring, coaching, and discipline of program employees
Program delivery
- Oversight for the implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all activities related to shelter, diversion, and emergency services.
- Oversight for the supervision and management of the data management software and data analysis
- Implement and monitor all aspects of service delivery workflow
- Ensure grant compliance in service delivery and documentation
- Analyze trends in the program, identifying issues and developing and recommending solutions to the Chief Programs Officer
- Lead in program development if and when new programs/sites initiate
Local community
- Participate in community tables deemed appropriate
- Advocates for the population we serve at community tables
- Identify community need for existing and new services related to emergency shelter and housing services
- Perform lead staff role with service partners
Work Environment:
- Work is performed on-site, at shelter locations, and remotely as appropriate.
- Lifting of materials of up to 20 pounds may be necessary.
- Job will require working occasional evenings and weekends.
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
- Master of Social Work or related degree (or related work experience)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in administration/leadership roles related to family services, housing, and program development
- Experience in non-profit sector working with volunteers and donors
- Demonstrates comfort in a faith base organization
- Demonstrate the ability to work with a culturally diverse population
- Understanding of evidence-based program evaluation standards (best practices)
- Demonstrated ability to manage strategic partnerships with community organizations
- Experience with diverse populations
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work independently, as well as effectively within a team. Must be able to work well with colleagues, board members and volunteers
- Must have strong project-management skills. Must be detail oriented and able to execute projects in a fast-paced, often pressured environment
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word Office Products
- Must be comfortable working in a faith-based environment
- Must be able to problem solve, provide a strategic vision for program development
