Housing Advocate
The Housing Advocate administers a specific IHCDA housing grant, taking full responsibility for its implementation, compliance, and success. This role involves managing all aspects of the assigned grant, including funding distribution and reporting, while providing direct client services. Operating under the supervision of Family Promise Director, the Housing Advocate ensures the grant’s goals are met and contributes to the overall mission of Family Promise of Hendricks County.
Key Responsibilities
1) Grant Administration
· Fully administer the assigned IHCDA housing grant, ensuring strict compliance with grant guidelines and Family Promise policies.
· Oversee the accurate and timely distribution of funds to eligible clients.
· Maintain detailed and organized records of grant activities, expenditures, and outcomes with Grant Coordinator’s assistance
· Attend all webinars, office hours, and training sessions required by IHCDA for the assigned grant.
2) Client Advocacy and Case Management
· Provide direct case management services to clients served by the assigned grant, tailoring support to meet individual needs.
· Develop housing plans in collaboration with clients, addressing barriers and connecting them to necessary resources.
· Advocate for clients with landlords, housing providers, and community organizations to secure and maintain stable housing.
· Monitor client progress and adjust services as needed to promote long-term stability.
3) Monitoring and Reporting
· Track and evaluate program outcomes, ensuring all grant metrics and goals are met.
· Prepare and submit required reports to Family Promise leadership in a timely manner.
· Identify challenges or gaps in service delivery and propose solutions to enhance program effectiveness.
4) Collaboration and Coordination
· Work closely with the Director to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
· Collaborate with other Housing Advocates, Grant Administrator, and Family Promise staff to share best practices and resources.
· Build and maintain relationships with community partners, landlords, and housing providers to expand housing opportunities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
- Prior experience with IHCDA grants or similar housing-related funding strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with databases and data management tools required (e.g., Excel, IHCDA-specific software, or similar platforms).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Familiarity with grant compliance processes and reporting requirements preferred.

Pay: $20.15 - $24.00 per hour
