Family Promise Rochester helps low-income families experiencing homelessness in Olmsted County, Minnesota achieve permanent housing and a path toward sustainable independence. The executive director provides strategic leadership to the nonprofit, advancing relationships with those served, volunteers, funders, service providers, and the community at large to fulfill the mission and vision of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Nonprofit Leadership
o Hire, manage and provide leadership and collaborative guidance to volunteer and paid staff, including conducting annual reviews.
o Develop an annual budget for board approval and provide oversight of operational expenses. Provide financial oversight activities such as managing contracts, approving payroll and initiating audits.
o Implement Board policies and initiatives. Provide regular board reports regarding the organization’s operations, opportunities and challenges. Plan monthly Board meetings with the Board President and work with Board committees as needed.
o Maintain organizational relationships with Family Promise national and regional affiliates.
o Be on call for emergencies at The Promise House during off-hours as needed.
o Partner with staff and volunteers to support case management activities as needed.
- Community Engagement
o Build and maintain positive working relationships with the county, city, schools and other local housing agencies and initiatives.
o Represent the organization to the public and local media, including radio, television, newspapers, and social media.
o Actively participate with other nonprofits, community agencies and groups related to addressing homelessness.
- Volunteer Management
o Establish relationships with existing volunteers and create a strategy to manage and grow the volunteer base.
o Create new volunteer roles that complement The Promise House operations.
o Oversee the training for volunteers and volunteer coordinators.
- Strategic Advancement
o Lead all fundraising activities.
o Coordinate and collaborate with Olmsted County staff and officials to ensure the optimal use and financial viability of The Promise House to serve the maximum number of families experiencing homelessness.
o Coordinate grant writing efforts.
o Create and implement a major gift strategy with top individual, corporate, foundation, and faith community donors.
o Grow annual giving among area churches, community organizations, and businesses.
o Promote Family Promise Rochester through marketing activities, including ensuring an up to date website, appropriate social media, and regular local media contact.
o Provide innovative leadership on future strategic direction of the organization.
Qualifications and Additional Information
A four-year college degree is required and at least three years of organizational leadership experience is desired. The executive director must be enthusiastic and passionate about helping families experiencing homelessness.
The executive director reports directly to the local Family Promise Rochester board. This is a full-time position with occasional evening and weekend hours to participate in community meetings, volunteer engagement and faith community events as needed.
Salary Range and Benefits
- $85,000 - 90,000 Annual Salary
- Employer Retirement Contribution of at least 10% of Gross Salary Annually
- Medical/Dental Stipend of $750 per month, in the form of additional salary
