Family Therapist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvide comprehensive evaluations and assessments with youth, families and individuals throughout the lifespan.Diagnose and treat an array of mental health and substance use disorders.Facilitate and provide family therapy utilizing evidence-based intervention and treatment.Provide risk assessments, safety and crisis planning with individuals who have potential of harm to themselves or others.Manage a caseload of individuals / families based on recommended frequency and intensity of services.Collaborate with internal and external colleagues and peers for the purpose of care coordination, consultation and referral.Ensure appropriate referrals-internally and externally for specialty services and supports.Complete clinical documentation timely in compliance with timelines established by Family Service and Guidance Center.Stay informed of agency developments by routinely reviewing email correspondence, and other agency related communication.Provide clinical oversight of cases and direct treatment among multiple Family Service & Guidance Center providers when assigned the role of primary provider.Ensure professional appearance and respectful interactions and demeanor with colleagues and community partners.Act as an ambassador of Family Service & Guidance Center in the community setting. This may include doing public educational and informational presentations.Support and actively promote the vision and mission of Family Service & Guidance Center and the philosophy of the strengths perspective.Other duties as assigned by the Therapy Program Team Manager.POSITION QUALIFICATIONSEducation / Licensure : Master's degree in a recognized mental health discipline.Valid license to practice in the state of Kansas as a Qualified Mental Health ProfessionalMust successfully pass the KBI and DCF Central Registry and all other background investigations.Must possess a valid driver's license, a good driving record, current auto insurance and reliable transportation.Active membership in professional organizations strongly encouraged.Experience : 2 years' experience providing family therapy.Education and experience in understanding and applying therapeutic strategies, theories and interventions.Diagnosis of mental health and substance use disorders.Working with diverse and marginalized populations across the lifespan.Experience and training in parenting education, intervention and strategies.Experience in partner-relationship counseling preferred.Experience in working with foster care, adoption and substance use disorders preferred.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities : Effective clinical Interviewing skills with a diverse population of children, adolescents and adults.Ensure cultural literacy and competency in working with a diverse population of children, adolescents and adults.Competence in risk assessment and safety planning.Competence in the delivery of family-focused therapeutic interventions and strategies.Competence in the assessment and diagnosis of mental health and substance use disorders.Attention to detail and accuracy in work.Ability to work with high conflict families and systems.The ability to clearly articulate and explain abstract concepts and ideas.The ability to give and accept constructive feedback.Adherence to the code of ethics including appropriate therapeutic boundaries and confidentiality.
