Family Service & Children’s Aid is Hiring a Prevention Specialist for Breakout Drug Education!

Looking for an individual who enjoys teaching youth in a school setting. Enjoy working in more of a community-based setting vs. an office? Find facilitating groups/teaching class using evidence-based model interesting? Enjoy being an advocate for families and youth? Want to assist youth in being successful in school and avoid using substances? No weekends and be done by 3pm or earlier on Fridays. We are hiring individuals who:

  • Enjoy laughing and have a good sense of humor (potlucks too!)

  • Love teaching and/or facilitating groups with middle school and high school students
  • Want to be part of a team that works in the community at local school districts but have an office location as a base of operation

  • Value individual supervision yet would welcome having group supervision along with access to a consulting psychiatrist

The Prevention Specialists coordinates and provides implementation of substance use prevention education. They teach the Breakout curriculum in local middle and high schools for 8 classes, teaching youth the impact of various substances, Works as a collaborative member of the Prevention Department at FSCA. Qualifications for position are as follows:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or a related human service program.
  • Will consider non-human service degree if individual has experience with facilitating groups or teaching
  • Has or is willing to obtain a MCBAP Certified Prevention Specialist credential
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
