SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a part-time Bilingual Advocate for the Huntington Family Center. The Bilingual Advocate will work in a community-based family center that offers advocacy, information and referral services, crisis counseling, housing referrals, youth services, and partners with other human service agencies for various services. The Advocate will be responsible for supporting the team with programs and assisting in the development of new programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform assessments of client’s needs.
- The Advocate will assist at the reception desk by welcoming community members.
- The Advocate will perform general clerical tasks including answering and routing phone calls, data entry, and filing.
- Advocate on behalf of community members to meet their immediate needs by making referrals to FSL or other service providers.
- The Advocate will assist in community outreach and promotion of programs and activities.
- The Advocate will assist in program development and implementation.
- Develop plans of action as necessary to fulfill goals.
- Coordinate and facilitate recreation/education activities for families.
- Work collaboratively with parents, school personnel and other community resources.
- Provide advocacy, information and referrals and linkages to resources as needed.
- Accurately and timely enter and update documentation into client electronic record in Accumed.
- Represent the agency in community-based initiatives.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
At least 1 year of experience working with school aged youth and community members in a community-based setting required.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.
Excellent interpersonal, organization, and verbal and written communication skills required.
The ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team is required.
Bilingual in Spanish & English required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position often requires sitting and working at a computer for extended periods of time.
May need to lift up to 25 lbs.
