SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a full-time Social Worker for the Forensic Diversion Program in Hauppauge, NY. The Social Worker will conduct crisis assessments in the problem-solving courts and units. This includes partnering with the Suffolk County District Court staff to determine intervention services, counsel participants and make recommendations to the court.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Social Worker will provide crisis intervention, assessment, and linkage of participants engaging in court services.
- Interview participants to determine the need for services.
- Act on behalf of Case Manager 1 or Resource Coordinator in their absence.
- Conduct court mandated drug testing by using specialized equipment.
- Refer participants to psychological or medical counseling services as determined through the assessment.
- The Social Worker will report participants compliance on programs, assess suitability for further treatment and counseling, and may recommend sanctions.
- Assist in developing treatment and counseling plans for participants and make recommendations to the judge.
- The Social Worker will collaborate with outside providers, external partners, and other stake holders to determine participants’ progress.
- Complete all required documentation in an electronic medical record.
- Complete training and maintain proficiency with de-escalation and techniques for crisis intervention.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree is required.
LMSW or other related clinical license is preferred.
At least six months experience in a behavioral health setting or legal setting required; clinical experience is preferred.
Knowledge of legal terminology is preferred.
Ability to interact with Attorneys, litigants, children, medical, psychiatric, and other professionals required.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office required; experience with Electronic Health Record preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills are required.
Ability to problem solve, multitask, make clear decisions and work as part of a team are required.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
