What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Technician position at Family Service Madison?
Make a Difference Every Day:
- Assist in facilitating non-psychotherapeutic group therapy sessions and experiential activities
- Provide one-on-one support to participants during group time, helping them achieve treatment goals
- Participate in activity planning, setup, and transitions to ensure smooth program operations
- Collaborate with the treatment team to reinforce therapeutic goals and respond to crisis situations using trauma-informed techniques
- Maintain documentation, confidentiality, and adherence to state and agency standards
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in human services field preferred in addition to at least one year of experience working with youth with mental health and behavioral challenges
- Personal aptitude or life experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively support young people with mental health and behavioral challenges
- Patience, compassion, and a commitment to trauma-informed care, teamwork, and cultural humility

Pay & Benefits:
- Starting pay $21.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on factors such as years of experience working with youth with emotional or behavioral challenges, bilingual language skills (Spanish preferred), and education level (a master's degree may qualify for a higher starting salary)
