Summary: Family Services seeks a motivated, intuitive, driven, and experienced fundraiser to join our team as Annual Gifts Officer. Reporting to the Director of Development, this position will oversee direct mail, digital marketing, and leadership annual giving initiatives in support of building the individual donor pipeline. This position additionally supports annual fundraising event strategies, community outreach, and communications initiatives supporting division and agency strategic priorities. The Annual Gifts Officer is a new role and will join the agency during an exciting time as we anticipate the public launch of a $10M capital campaign in support of building a new emergency domestic violence shelter in Forsyth County.
Essential Functions:
- Manage an assigned leadership annual giving donor portfolio (up to $5,000), identifying, cultivating, stewarding, retaining, and upgrading donors with an emphasis on unrestricted funds to meet or exceed agency revenue goals.
- Oversees a data-driven, multichannel giving program (direct mail, email, social media, web) as part of a strategy to inform, engage, and solicit current and prospective donors.
- Writes annual fundraising appeals for direct mail and digital campaigns as part of the fundraising strategic plan.
- Serves as content and community manager for social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), seeking to increase overall page engagement and awareness.
- Responsible for webpage updates, including routine reviews and updates, collaborating with division partners as needed.
- Supports annual employee fundraising campaign, coordinating with leadership and division representatives.
- Coordinate with division partners to identify and promote volunteer opportunities to strengthen donor affinity with the agency as an entry point to annual support and donor retention.
- Provide support for third-party fundraising events, speaking engagements, and tabling initiatives as appropriate.
- Identifies and develops new revenue generation opportunities as appropriate (monthly giving, tribute giving, ambassador programs, peer-to-peer fundraising) as part of annual fundraising initiatives.
- Prepare and execute new donor welcome packets and anniversary card mailings to upgrade and retain the annual donor base.
- Analyze and report on the progress of annual giving and marketing channels by generating monthly and quarterly reports.
- Coordinate with the Director of Development on annual impact report and related stewardship messaging to donors as needed.
- Researches and stays current on annual fundraising best practices and new trends in the industry, making recommendations for implementation as needed.
- May recruit, interview, and manage volunteers and/or interns as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 1-3 years of successful fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization or equivalent combination of skills and knowledge.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Organization and attention to detail are a must.
- Ability to distill complex ideas into easily understood concepts and communicate those to a variety of audiences using various marketing tools.
- Adept at using judgment for the agency's best interests, keeping all revenue initiatives mission-forward.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage time successfully, prioritize work, and maintain confidentiality.
- Creative, persuasive, and skilled mission-driven storyteller.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and similar design software.
- Knowledge of social media and website management.
- Knowledge of donor database software (Raiser’s Edge, Bloomerang).
- High technical literacy and knowledge with a proven understanding of fundraising reporting methodologies and analytics.
- Eager, with an innate desire to learn and grow in the fundraising industry.

- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proven experience in direct mail and digital marketing with advanced understanding (SEO, HTML, automation, etc.).
- Strong history of event planning and volunteer management.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Maintains physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following: walking, bending, stretching, lifting, standing or sitting for extended periods of time, operating assigned equipment.
- Ability to work flexible/overtime hours, including evenings and some weekends, as needed.
- Requires valid NC driver’s license and ability to travel between various agency sites and community resources.
