Job Title: Program Director Uncommon Threads

Location: Lawrence, MA (On-site)

Hours: Full-time (35 hours/week)

Organization: Uncommon Threads, under fiscal sponsorship of Family Services of the Merrimack Valley

Reports to: CEO of Family Services of the Merrimack Valley and the Uncommon Threads Founder

About Uncommon Threads:

Uncommon Threads is an innovative, empowerment-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low-income women build self-esteem and confidence through clothing, personal styling, peer support, and self-esteem workshops. Based in Lawrence, MA, Uncommon Threads has served over 15,000 women since its founding in 2016 and continues to grow in scope and impact.

Position Overview:

Uncommon Threads is seeking a full-time Program Director to lead and manage the overall strategy, programs, development, staff, and operations of Uncommon Threads. This role provides a unique opportunity to help shape a growing organization and make a tangible impact on the lives of women in the community. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone who is passionate about women’s empowerment, nonprofits, and community engagement.

Strategic Leadership & Community Engagement

  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to staff and volunteers to fulfill Uncommon Threads’ mission and vision.
  • Define, develop, and implement a strategic plan for short- and long-term growth in collaboration with the Founder.
  • Strengthen relationships with community-based agencies and key stakeholders, with support from other team members.
  • Develop and support an active and engaged advisory council, co-lead meetings with the Council Chair and leverage members’ experience and networks.
  • Represent Uncommon Threads at community events and public speaking engagements to increase program visibility and build partnerships.
  • Ensure on-going programmatic excellence, program evaluation, and consistent quality of administration, fundraising, and communications.

Development & Fundraising

  • Identify and secure new funding opportunities, including grants, unrestricted funds, individual donations, and corporate partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the Founder to build and maintain strong in-kind and monetary donor relationships.
  • Maintain consistent communication with major donors and potential funders.
  • Ensure accurate and timely grant reporting and maintain donor data integrity within Bloomerang (donor management system).
  • Support strategy and oversight of Uncommon Closet (social enterprise), in collaboration with the Store Manager.
  • Create and implement donor outreach strategies to attract new supporters and retain current ones.

Marketing & Communications

  • Create content and set up distribution schedules for e-news in collaboration with team members.
  • Pitch media and write/distribute press releases and content to increase public awareness of Uncommon Threads.
  • Work closely with the Uncommon Closet Store Manager to develop marketing strategies and goals to increase sales.

Financial, Operational & Staff Management

  • Oversee day-to-day financial management in compliance with FSMV policies, including budget monitoring, and internal controls.
  • Supervise and support staff in performance management, goal setting, and professional development.
  • Ensure programmatic excellence by evaluating services, tracking impact, and improving service delivery.
  • Work with the team to provide high-quality, mission-driven programming.
  • Develop systems to measure program effectiveness and ensure quality across all services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required, master’s degree in nonprofit management, social work, or business a plus.
  • At least 3 years of experience in nonprofit or program management; equivalent experience considered.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership experience with staff and volunteers.
  • Strong fundraising/development background preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills are strongly preferred.
  • Cultural competence and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, and donor management systems such as Bloomerang; knowledge of WIX is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time, 35 hours/week salaried position with a range of $60,000-$65,000 per annual (salary commensurate with education and experience).

Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
