Family Services of Westchester is looking for full-time Respite Coordinator for our Respite location in White Plains, NY.
POSITION TITLE: Respite Coordinator
SALARY: $55,000 starting
STATUS: Exempt
SUPERVISED BY: Division Director of Community Impact The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
- NOTE – this is primarily a weekday position 4 days, but will require weekend hours (1 day) to supervise and directly provide training for staff
- Schedule and plan therapeutic and recreational weekday and weekend activities.
- Coordinator will act as primary intake point person for new Respite referrals
- Setting up appointments with families and coordinating initial visits
- Act as on-site point person, supervise weekend staff and provide overall leadership of Weekend Success program as well as our summer camp program.
- Collaborate with other program coordinators to ensure services are offered within Respite activities.
- As part of the Respite team, develop, strengthen, and support staff development
- Attend community network meetings in the community
- Attend and co-facilitate weekly and monthly staff meetings
- Embody the culture and values of the program and the agency
- Support program activities and major events; for example, the Summer BBQ, Summer Reunion, and other annual events.
- Assist with other Respite program activities, as required by Respite Director
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors of Social Work or related field. MSW or masters in related field preferred.
- VALID Driver’s License required
- Experience in the System of Care principles and demonstrated ability to work effectively with families whose children are challenged by Serious Emotionally Disturbance (SED)
- Ability to connect with people, recognizing and building on their individual strengths
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Ability to set appropriate boundaries and limits
- Ability to communicate information clearly and in a strength-based, sensitive way, both orally and in writing
- Consistency and dependability-being responsible to meet obligations and honor commitments
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team
- Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Flexibility and willing to work weekends regularly
- Sense of humor
