Family Services of Westchester is looking for a Program Manager (Team Leader), Community Mental Health Promotion and Support, located in Purchase, NY.
POSITION TITLE: Program Manager (Team Leader), Community Mental Health Promotion and Support
STATUS: Full Time
REPORTS TO : Senior Director, Community Health
JOB SUMMARY
The Program Manager (Team Leader), Community Mental Health Promotion and Support oversees the New York State Office of Mental Health’s Community Mental Health Promotion and Support (COMHPS) program. The COMHPS team provides community engagement, mental health wellness promotion individual screenings for mental health conditions, brief counseling, and referrals to licensed mental health professionals, with a focus on populations that are likely to experience inequities and/or challenges in accessing and engaging in mental health care. The services provided by the COMHPS team aim to improve community members’ health outcomes and empower them to become independent and informed consumers of mental and physical health care services. Primary responsibilities include staff management (supervision and training of Community Wellness Specialists), program administration (outreach and service provision in coordination and collaboration with community partners) and data collection and reporting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises Community Wellness Specialists; provides daily oversight and 1:1 supervision
- Establishes and maintains partnerships with local community-based organizations to provide public education about available servicess
- Coordinates and participates in community activities aimed at supporting mental wellness of participants including groups, faith/spiritual activities, public education and recreational activities
- Reviews screenings conducted by Community Wellness Specialists as well as response/follow-up to results to ensure that screenings are conducted properly and that appropriate referrals and linkages are made
- Completes all required data tracking, reconciliation and analysis activities
- Must have a driver's license and daily access to a car
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
· Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or Psychology
EXPERIENCE
· Experience in mental health including conducting screenings and counseling as well as crisis response required
· Experience working within community/mental health/healthcare/social service organizations required
· Staff management experience required
· Community outreach/coordination experience preferred
· Health education experience preferred
· Program management experience preferred
· Grant management experience preferred
· Knowledge of resources in Westchester County a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Must have valid NYS driving license and daily access to car
· Frequent contact with employees, representatives of outside agencies and community members
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Approximately 85% sitting and 15% walking/standing
· Bending and lifting required
· Manual dexterity and regular hours at computer keyboard
