Position Title: Shelter Services Coordinator-HT
Reports to: Director of Residential Programs
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Work Site: Human Trafficking Shelter
Summary: The Shelter Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the delivery of services for survivors of human trafficking including directing crisis response efforts, identifying and addressing client needs, managing statistical data for grant reports, and coordinating with the Director of Residential Programs regarding the needs of trafficking survivors, in accordance with FSC’s policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Residential Shelter including monitoring client access and security, and enforcing program rules and guidelines.
2. Establish and maintain a positive and professional environment for clients and staff that is consistent with FSC values and standards.
3. Oversee and manage entry criteria and intake processes for trafficking survivors seeking shelter placement.
4. Provide comprehensive, trauma-informed advocacy, respect the autonomy for survivors residing in the shelter, and provide them with encouragement and comprehensive support.
5. Implement risk mitigation strategies and develop individualized safety and behavior plans for survivors transitioning into communal living.
6. Develop and implement individualized case plans focusing on recovery, self-sufficiency, and reintegration into the community.
7. Offer ongoing mental health and substance use support, coordinating services with external providers as needed.
8. Identify signs of trauma, addiction, and mental health concerns, providing appropriate referrals for care.
9. Develop and deliver specialized training for shelter staff and volunteers on trauma-informed care and working with trafficking survivors.
10. Provide regular consultation to staff on handling trafficking cases and survivor-centered advocacy approaches.
11. Act as a liaison between the agency and external stakeholders, including law enforcement, healthcare providers, and referral partners.
12. Represent the agency at community meetings, coalitions, and outreach events focusing on trafficking and survivor support.
13. Maintain accurate, confidential records of interactions and services provided to trafficking survivors.
14. Track key metrics such as recovery progress and housing stability for grant reporting and program evaluation.
15. Build and maintain partnerships with local and state agencies, service providers, and community organizations offering specialized survivor services.
16. Work closely with law enforcement and healthcare providers to streamline referrals and ensure continuity of care.
17. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Residential Programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in social services, or related field; MSW preferred
5 years’ experience in a Social Service agency
Experience working victims of trafficking preferred
Experience in a residential facility preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to maintain poise and self-control in critical and high intensity crisis situations;
Ability to communicate with and be sensitive to the needs of people of various backgrounds;
Knowledge of trauma-informed best practices;
Ability to determine and prioritize appropriate victim services;
Ability to learn and effectively use software applications for the collection and storage client data and information;
Ability to work well with others in a collaborative learning environment;
Ability to identify and use community resources;
Ability to focus and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines;
Ability to complete and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and mental health first aid certification
Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills;
Strong computer skills in current Microsoft 365 applications.
Travel Requirements
- Ability to travel to local meetings and trainings as needed.
- Valid Alabama driver's license and automobile insurance required.
Physical Demands
- Ability to climb stairs and lift light boxes and materials as needed.
- Ability to sit in a designated area and monitor security monitors and central office for prolonged periods of time
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
