Position Summary:
Responsible for performing Criminal/Civil Background Screenings and Diligent Search in accordance with Chapters 39, 65, 435 and Department of Children and Families Policy.
Essential Functions:
- Performs Criminal/Civil Background Searches in accordance with Chapters 39, 65, 435, and Department of Children and Families Policy.
- Responsible for intake and tracking of Criminal/Civil research and results with extreme accuracy.
- Determines the screening level requirements for each of the 10 individual types of requests based on type, case manager contact, Department of Children and Families policy & FL Statutes.
- Evaluates each case and based on findings, determine Permanent, 5 Year limit, disqualifying and non-disqualifying offenses.
- Disseminates individuals criminal history by interpreting FCIC, JJIS/DJJ, CJIS, arrest reports and Court dockets, being fully versed in legal acronyms/abbreviations pertaining to Florida statute.
- Uses informed judgment skills in determining additional criminal resources needed for research, based on information gathered for specific cases.
- Contacts county, state, national & international law enforcement divisions to discuss and obtain the appropriate information, when clarification of criminal charges, adjudication or court docket progress is needed.
- Presents all findings with required documentation to requestors by comprehensibly explaining criminal/abuse charges, legal court dockets & probation history as necessary.
- Qualifies applicants for FBI fingerprint submission, scheduling appointments, in Pasco/Pinellas, successfully obtaining the scans via livescan machine and transmitting to the FBI for review.
- Provides findings and substantive reasoning for Disqualified Licensing applicants to Department of Children and Families -Background Screening, for use in Exemption Hearings.
- Supports the projects Quality Assurance function, Quality Assurance data needs, and deadlines for reports and monitoring as they pertain to background screenings.
Other Duties Include, But Not Limited To
- Participate in training and development activities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree preferred.
Experience: Four years computer work experience required. Law or Criminal Justice knowledge preferred.

Other Requirements:
- Clear a Level II background screening
- Clear a reference check (professional and personal)
- Clear a local background check from the County in which you reside
- Clear a substance abuse screen
- Provide a copy of all degrees prior to your first day of employment
