The Community Engagement Officer is a key asset to the Development Team, working in partnership with the Development Director and fellow team members to develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-tiered development plan. This strategic approach effectively identifies diverse funding sources, including in-kind donations, grants, charitable events, and marketing opportunities, significantly enhancing donations and volunteer engagement.

In this role, the Community Engagement Officer takes the lead in managing and overseeing major development and appreciation events for Family Tree, as well as supporting program-related initiatives. Their efforts are crucial in identifying, nurturing, soliciting, and managing a portfolio of monthly donors and prospects, collaborating closely with the Development Officer to maximize impact.

This position thrives on building strong relationships with the leadership team, board of directors, and other staff members, ensuring alignment with the organization’s development objectives through effective relationship-building and annual fundraising strategies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

50% Event planning and implementation

  • Administer post-event evaluation and solicitation of feedback.
  • Assist Graphic Designer in the development of key printed marketing, programs, and other communication needs for events.
  • Develop and implement a plan for thanking donors/sponsors/guests/volunteers post event.
  • Ensure that events are at capacity goal annually. Create strategy for audience development and manage attendance by tracking ticket sales, table assignments, sponsoring guests and updating caterer on food preferences.
  • Ensure that records of all events are maintained including but not limited to planning, implementation, vendors, sponsorships, donor contacts and any other records necessary to create the event annually.
  • Help create and manage committees to support events.
  • If event requires, package items for live or silent auctions, balloon pops or other development strategies as created.
  • In collaboration with the Development Director and Development team develop a working budget for each event and manage expenses accordingly.
  • Inspire excitement about the events and welcome a diverse participation in the event planning and execution. Work with Development Team in leading event’s committee guided by a spirit of collaboration, teamwork and focus on goals.
  • Manage event rentals.
  • Manage event set up, including décor, registration, check in/out, entertainment, vendors, and food for all events.
  • Manage guest table assignments, floor mapping and event layout.
  • Manage strategy to meet sponsorship goal. Meet individually with potential sponsors and involve board and staff members.
  • Manage the execution of event-related mailings.
  • Manage the procurement of in-kind donations for events in collaboration with committee members as needed.
  • Organize the development of vision and goals for each event in concert with Family Tree’s Development Team, Board, and volunteer committees.
  • Serve on each Program Event Committee and assist as assigned focusing on business sponsorships and donor support.
  • Work with Community Engagement Officer in creating a list of volunteer activities needed for each event including scheduling, training, and day-of-event duties.
  • Work with Community Engagement Officer to develop and write content for websites and social media.

20% Community Engagement and Communication

  • Assist with social media and marketing as assigned.
  • Attend community engagement events.
  • Collaborate with program staff developing messaging and support for programs.
  • Conduct agency tours and presentations necessary to advance FTRN’s relationship with organizations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key community partners, keeping the Development Team and Development Director informed.
  • Foster relationships with event attendees, donors, event vendors, volunteers, and staff. Develop strategies for communicating with key event supporters year-round and foster their connection to Family Tree’s mission.
  • Provide leadership to expand community involvement in and financial support of FTRN.
  • Represent FTRN at local Chamber of Commerce, MVVMA and other groups as assigned by Executive Director
  • Serve as a spokesperson and advocate for FTRN’s mission and programs in the community through speaking engagements and other outreach activities.
  • Serve as spokesperson/public persona representing Family Tree and its events. Set a high standard of excellence in all aspects of event leadership and work to enhance and expand the organization’s image and reputation as a premier charity in Linn and Benton Counties

25% Donor Development

  • Assists Development Team and Development Director in supporting the Advancement Committee and Nominating committee as assigned.
  • In collaboration with the Development Team, assists with the creation and implementation of the annual fundraising plan.
  • Inspire support for FTRN’s mission through interactions with donors and community organizations.
  • Solicit donations from current and lapsed donors as assigned.
  • Work with Development Team and Development Officer to build relationships and increase donations from individuals and businesses in Linn and Benton Counties focusing on monthly donors with follow up, cultivation and solicitation from fundraising events.
  • Utilize Donor Software to enter data and run reports.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $27.56 per hour
