The Maintenance and Cleaning Lead is a service excellence-oriented role responsible for ensuring a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment that represents the community in which we serve. Every position upheld in our organization is vital to the health and well-being of our programs and membership community.
Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Maintenance and Cleaning Lead is responsible for the hands-on aspects of keeping the Withnell Family YMCA a place that is safe, clean, and functioning properly for all members, guests and staff. This person will support the Facilities Director with all weekend maintenance and inspections, necessary repairs, and afterhours custodial of the facility, as well as setting up and breaking down events that occur on the weekend. It is in this role that the Maintenance and Cleaning Lead coordinates a small team of Hospitality Attendants, setting up for community meetings and special events, supporting programs and departments with responsibilities when it comes ensuring a clean and well operating facility. Lastly, the Maintenance and Cleaning Lead acts as weekday on-call, covering for the Facilities Director when they are out of the area.

Essential Functions
Weekend Building Closer / Lead Cleaner
- Perform closing janitorial duties Friday through Sunday, ensuring the facility is ready the following morning for Members to experience a welcoming, safe and clean environment
- Assure a culture of safety and compliance with all risk management polices
- Empower and coach weekend hospitality staff to be effective and results oriented with assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks
- Ensure staff are properly trained in safety procedures for proper operation of equipment and cleaning methods
- Monitor facility and grounds each shift and address any safety, cleanliness or repair issues promptly
- Support Facilities Director with a preventive maintenance program and implement for each zone of the building, grounds, equipment and fleet of vehicles
- Complete scheduled cleaning, maintenance and painting projects with minimal disruption in service to members
- Maintain a timetable log recording all necessary repair information and reports
- Follow a plan for daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of the facility and related zones: Pool; Gym; Wellness Floor; Rooftop; Track; Restrooms; Locker rooms; Classrooms; Studios; Offices; Common Areas; Exterior, Landscape and Parking Lots
- Provide Fleet related maintenance and trip support in coordination with Facilities Director.
- Act as on-call shuttle driver for programs
- Act as on-call Maintenance during the weekday
- Interact professionally and work cooperatively with other departments and agencies to ensure a quality experience for members and guests
- Actively participate in staff meetings, fundraising efforts, and attend training sessions as requested
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Supervisory experience and ability to work as part of a team
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and basic maintenance
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, exercise sound judgment and initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure, effectively problem-solve and manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to relate to diverse populations
- Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel; ability to use work order software)
- Must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job including lifting or moving heavy equipment in a safe manner
- CPR/AED certification required
- Valid driver's license
- CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire
