POSTED ON 3/28/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/14/2025

Company Overview

Fanatics is building a leading global digital sports platform. We ignite the passions of global sports fans and maximize the presence and reach for our hundreds of sports partners globally by offering products and services across Fanatics Commerce, Fanatics Collectibles, and Fanatics Betting & Gaming, allowing sports fans to Buy, Collect, and Bet. Through the Fanatics platform, sports fans can buy licensed fan gear, jerseys, lifestyle and streetwear products, headwear, and hardgoods; collect physical and digital trading cards, sports memorabilia, and other digital assets; and bet as the company builds its Sportsbook and iGaming platform. Fanatics has an established database of over 100 million global sports fans; a global partner network with approximately 900 sports properties, including major national and international professional sports leagues, players associations, teams, colleges, college conferences and retail partners, 2,500 athletes and celebrities, and 200 exclusive athletes; and over 2,000 retail locations, including its Lids retail stores. Our more than 22,000 employees are committed to relentlessly enhancing the fan experience and delighting sports fans globally.

Achieving our goals requires strong collaboration and partnership between our teams and our internal stakeholders. To best support this, the person who accepts this role is expected to be on site, in office four days per week. To provide our employees with flexibility, we offer a unique benefit where employees at Fanatics' corporate entity can work remotely for up to four weeks per year, which can be taken in daily or weekly increments.

The Role

We are currently seeking a SOX Auditor to join our team in New York City or Jacksonville, FL. In this role, you will be responsible for executing Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) business process control testing, ensuring our internal control environment meets COSO (Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission) standards. You will review process narratives, perform assurance procedures, assess business process controls, and recommend process improvements, all while collaborating with stakeholders across the organization. If you are a detail-oriented professional with a passion for sports, governance, and continuous improvement, we encourage you to apply and become part of the Fanatics team.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and review key process flows and controls.
  • Perform detailed testing of SOX controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Evaluate the impact of control deficiencies, including root causes, compensating controls, and potential mitigations.
  • Prepare and complete testing documentation in Fanatics’ audit tool (Workiva), ensuring the completeness and accuracy of evidence.
  • Assist in all phases of internal audit initiatives—planning, design, execution, and reporting—in alignment with the Corporate Audit Handbook and IIA professional standards.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen the internal control environment.
  • Develop trust with partners across the organization by effectively communicating findings, sharing insights, and offering best practices.
  • Collaborate with the SOX team, external auditors, and co-resources to create synergies across the SOX program.
  • Assist in the preparation of SOX Status Updates reports.
  • Undertake other duties assigned to support the evolving needs of the Audit team.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA (or active pursuit of CPA) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of SOX or internal audit experience with a public accounting firm.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, the COSO framework, and leading business practices.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exhibit intellectual curiosity and professional skepticism with the ability to evaluate complex processes and suggest improvements.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively managing multiple deadlines and resources.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Clearly and concisely communicate ideas—both verbally and in writing—to all levels of management, while candidly addressing concerns and observations.
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience with Oracle, Microsoft D365, Lucidchart, Workiva (Wdesk), Box, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.
  • Inclusive Mindset: Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in everyday work and decision-making.
