What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Manager position at Fanatics?
As a key member of the M&N Finance team reporting directly to the M&N Head of Global Finance, this role will be primarily responsible for being the direct Finance liaison with our Sales, Operations and Financial Systems teams, partnering with our US Wholesale, DTC and International sales teams and ensures accurate net revenue and gross margin forecasts. This key contributor will need to understand key drivers and forecast variances, support initiatives like key account/region programming or pricing changes, and lead modeling and reporting for all planning processes, including, but not limited to, month-end variance analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning. They also conduct ad hoc analyses to support the Sales, Finance, and Leadership teams (both M&N and Fanatics) as needed.
The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate and build strong business partnerships with multiple teams across the organization (M&N and Fanatics corporate) and be instrumental in providing senior leadership with the level of monthly reporting / KPI dashboards required to drive strategic decision making. The successful team member will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be nimble yet strategic and be passionate about working with sales teams to achieve results.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with sales leaders on our monthly forecast process, ensuring accurate gross shipment, net revenue, and gross margin inputs month in and month out. Ensure correct financial reporting and prepare frequent forecasts and tracking thereof – monthly, quarterly, yearly, ad hoc
- Identify sources of forecast variance and any process or strategy changes needed to mitigate risk.
- Analyze operational issues impacting the business, measure business performance, determine their financial impact, and proactively identify areas of opportunity
- Focus on and drive profitable growth across the various segments, regions, customers/leagues, and product categories
- Prepare for MBRs, QBRs, and Board Meetings with senior leadership
- Coordinate with internal teams, including Sales, Operations, Data Analytics, Financial Systems, and others, to ensure our sales team has the support and tools they need to succeed
- Provide financial and commercial insights and drive M&N's future performance, including recommendations regarding cost savings and profitability risks, and improvement opportunities
- Maximize efficiency and effectiveness by defining, designing, and managing the development of value-added reporting and analytical tools necessary to drive the strategy
- Optimize operating margins by creating transparency about profitability development and root causes
- Identify and steer improvement measures such as pricing, cost performance, and customer portfolio management
- Hybrid/Remote role. Will require 20-30% travel.
Qualifications:
- 6 years of progressive experience. Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required.
- Preferred: Commercial Finance experience in CPG, Retail, or Wholesale/Manufacturing environment.
- Experience with analyzing large amounts of data, and ability to synthesize financial / business impact information into clear and concise summaries for leadership presentations/summaries.
- Attention to detail, thoroughness, accuracy, and overall quality of work as this role involves summarizing and integrating information, checking details, verifying calculations, critical evaluation, and logical analysis of data.
- Strong technical skills: Power BI, PowerPoint. Exceptional Excel skills required, demonstrated experience using Excel to build and maintain complex financial models and data analysis.
- Willingness to invest time and effort to understand business, customers, and competitive dynamics to fully connect its impact and influence on financial statements.
- Insightful, consistent, and considerate communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Continuous Improvement minded - understands business processes to identify re-engineering opportunities. Proactive problem solver, expected to present problems and recommendations simultaneously.
- Dynamic in the ability to work in an environment that is constantly changing and growing.
The salary for this position is between $107,000 and $133,500 per year, in compliance with NY' salary transparency requirements.
