What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mailroom Clerk position at Fannin County Detention Center?
All outgoing mail shall be scanned for content (contraband, gang related material, security issues, etc.). Any suspicious material shall be reported immediately.
All incoming mail (with the exception of legal mail) shall be opened and the contents scanned and examined for contraband or any material, written or otherwise, that may endanger the order or security of the facility. All correspondence shall be resealed.
All money orders addressed to detainees will be brought to the Business Manager daily. All cash currencies shall be returned to the sender. All money orders mailed for a detainee that is no longer housed here shall be returned to the sender utilizing proper procedures.
All mail shall be sorted by addressee name and number and the offender’s current housing assignment shall be hand written on outside of the envelope.
Upon completion of processing, all mail shall be delivered to the housing area.
All un-deliverable mail shall be returned to the mail room for proper processing.
Mail room personnel shall be responsible for the proper screening of all publications for distribution to offenders.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficient in reading and speaking Spanish preferred.
Must have the ability to follow direct orders and communicate clearly with the chain of command.
Must be able to pass drug test and criminal background.
Valid Texas Driver's License.
