Fantasy Cookie Company is a leading commercial bakery in Sylmar, CA, which has been successfully operating for 40 years. The company produces natural and organic cookie products for large retailers and branded businesses. The company is experiencing growth due to the recently expanding its baking facilities.
SUMMARY
Our organization is searching for an action minded Plant Manger (hands on) to take on the responsibility of overseeing plant activities in order to meet our business objectives. The successful candidate will be accountable for all aspects of plant performance and will ensure that objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner that is consistent with our safety and quality requirements. Will be responsible for the appropriate delegation of authority to key members within the operation, leading, managing and directing all operational functions within the bakery operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Provide day-to-day leadership to the production, maintenance and sanitation departments.
- Improve operational efficiency and effectiveness by assessing, upgrading or installing new operational systems, processes and methodologies.
- Remain in compliance with SQF standards and all FISMA guidelines.
- Analyze and utilize operational reports to leverage continuous improvement opportunities/lean
- Maintain all administrative records
- Control cost to achieve containment goals associated with both direct and indirect cost centers
- Operations management of 2 full shift (24/7) of productivity
- Develop, implement and refine a comprehensive preventive maintenance and sanitation program
- Teach and develop others in support of our succession plans
- Develop, practice and support lean manufacturing concept
- OSHA compliance in all aspects
- Develop and lead all maintenance projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree – Required
- 5 years experience in plant operations and in managerial position within food manufacturing required (baking preferred)
- Solid familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants
- Goal oriented
- Solution prevention oriented
- Well organized, possessing excellent follow-up and through skills
- Visible, leads by example
- Ability to read a situation quickly, putting solutions to work in a timely manner
- Demonstrates can - do behavior
- Able to lead root cause analysis investigations
- Able to explain training material to our operating staff
- Aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting
- Proficient with MS Office
- Excellent communication skills
- Bi-lingual in both English and Spanish preferred
