What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ride Maintenance Technician- Entry Level position at Fantasy Island Amusement Park?
The Fantasy Island Amusement Park Mechanic is a critical role for the overall success of the amusement park as this person will ensure all rides are in proper operating order. This position must possess basic mechanical aptitude and skill. He/she must have the willingness and ability to use these skills to ensure the safe operation, maintenance, and inspections of the Fantasy Island Amusement Park rides and attractions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and refurbish amusement rides and systems.
- Ensure all rides and equipment comply with all Fantasy Island Amusement and equipment manufacturers’ operating standards and requirements.
- Perform visual and auditory inspections of rides and attractions.
- Maintain proper records for all inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of FIAP rides and attractions
- Must be able to and willing to perform and/or assist in the other park repairs and maintenance that is deemed necessary by supervisors.
- Working with machinery, such as hydraulics, gearboxes, pneumatics, etc.
- Able to problem solve and troubleshoot, and/or perform general maintenance of mechanical devices and vehicles to assure proper function and safety.

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED / COMPUTER SKILLS:
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Valid driver’s license, ability to drive and have a clean driving record.
Solid customer service and communication skills necessary.
Working knowledge of network protocols.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in the amusement, theme park, and gaming industry a plus.
- Two-year experience in mechanical maintenance preferred.
- Background in machine repair, including ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
- Solid understanding of relevant safety procedures.
- Ability to lift heavy objects.
- Ability to climb heights up to 150 feet.
- Previous background in welding, machining, and the understanding of electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic schematics and control systems is beneficial.
- Ability to understand manuals and wiring diagrams.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and motivated demeanor required.
- Must possess a strong work ethic. Ability to efficiently manage time and work without direct supervision.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to interact and get along with different types of people and personalities.
- High school diploma.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be 100% available to work the required hours necessary for Fantasy Island Amusement Park. Due to seasonality, must be able to commit to needed hours and scheduling expectations.
