Position Summary: Far Brook School is seeking a motivated, innovative, and collaborative math teacher to join a strong team of math faculty for the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will embrace Far Brook's unique, progressive and multidisciplinary approach. Candidates should demonstrate mathematical knowledge and understanding across grade levels and content strands and employ innovative student-centered teaching practices. A well-qualified candidate will be able to create and scaffold rigorous, higher-level thinking tasks that emphasize critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and problem-solving as well as differentiate teaching and learning based on students’ cognitive needs and learning styles. Courses include teaching general mathematics for Grades 5 and 6.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Understand and support the Far Brook School Statement of Purpose, Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Social Justice, and its Progressive Education philosophy.
  • Work collaboratively with a Co-Teacher or Teaching Fellow (if applicable to the position) and other Faculty and Divisional Directors on curriculum planning and student support.
  • Plan, design, and deliver lessons and curriculum content relevant to the grade level or Specialist area. (Middle School Curriculum, Junior High Curriculum)
  • Work closely with other math teachers and the learning specialist to create and implement both learning support and enrichment activities
  • Support students with their social-emotional development with a strong focus on health and wellness.
  • Communicate with families about students’ learning through frequent updates, parent-teacher conferences, and student progress reports.
  • Conduct informal and formal learning assessments to be responsive to an individualized approach for student growth.
  • Differentiate instruction to attend to the needs of individual students.
  • Maintain safety and supervision of students in class, during events, and on off-campus trips.
  • Attend and participate in weekly faculty meetings.
  • Attend school evening/weekend events for the grade level(s) and/or division.
  • Support the school community by performing other duties and event support as needed.

Required Qualifications And Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or in a related field, a Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in the content area preferred.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of pre-adolescent and adolescent development and education.
  • Interest in professional growth and school-wide initiatives.
  • Experience and/or interest in professional growth in progressive education and DEI curriculum and best practices.
  • Experience with designing and implementing curriculum.
  • Strong understanding of multimodal learning and experience with differentiating teaching based on students’ needs.
  • Proficient in technology, specifically GSuite for Education.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
