What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Automation Engineer position at Fareway Stores, Inc.?
JOB DUTIES:
The Senior Automation Engineer will be part of Fareway’s Automation Team and responsible for being a leading senior resource for automation projects. The ideal candidate will be a systems integrator with hands-on work experience and knowledge of the Allen Bradley and Siemen’s product lines, and PLC programming/HMI technology.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Expertise in designing, programming, testing, and commissioning automation systems using PLCs and HMIs to control and monitor industrial processes.
- Effectively lead and support the installation, start-up, maintenance, and operation of automation systems, advanced manufacturing software applications, drive systems, manufacturing systems, industrial networks, and the individual products that comprise these systems.
- Facilitate new systems need identification, vendor selection and pre-qualification, concept development, RFP/RFQ/RFB processes and capital expense requests.
- Provide technical support during commissioning and post-project stages, while overseeing automation projects from conception to implementation.
- Interpret process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) to identify individual I/O components and process systems for programming execution.
- Optimize control logic for automated systems to improve monitoring and control capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of directly related experience.
- Current valid driver's license to travel to client sites and perform physical duties.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
- In-depth knowledge of Automation and Control products, including but not limited to Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), PLCs, Motion Control, HMI, Networking, Sensors, Motion, Robotics, and Motor Control.
- Knowledge and experience with PLC programming.
- Experience in applying automation technology to industries such as Warehouse Distribution Food and Beverage, Consumer Products Manufacturing and Packaging, etc. and applications such as conveyors, production lines, packaging equipment, sortation, etc.
LOCATION:
This position is based out of our distribution center in Boone, Iowa. Onsite work is required.
