What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farm and Garden Camp Assistant Instructor position at Farm and Garden Camp?
Farm and Garden Camp seeks to cultivate reciprocal, conscientious, and caring relationships with place and community through growing, harvesting, and working with food and fiber in meaningful and authentic ways. Summary Description: As rising leaders at camp, Assistant Instructors take on significant responsibility with camper groups while also receiving mentorship and guidance from other camp staff. Assistant Instructors work collaboratively with Instructors to implement elementary-age camper activities. They help to oversee transitions, tend to camper needs, and facilitate group dynamics including assisting with behavior management and addressing interpersonal conflicts. Assistant Instructors attend staff training and work through all camper sessions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Significant experience working with children;
- Successful completion of or equivalent leadership training programs in other camp and/or agricultural education settings;
- Ability to take instruction as well as to take initiative;
- A desire to learn and grow as counselor;
- Reliability, enthusiasm, creativity, flexibility, and patience;
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills;
- Up-to-date certification in standard first aid and CPR prior to start of staff training (required).
Dates & Compensation:
- Staff Training: June 30 - July 4 and July 6 / Camp Sessions: July 7 - August 22, 2025
- $15 per hour
