JOB DESCRIPTION
Mechanic
The primary focus of the Mechanic is to maintain, diagnose, and repair ready mix equipment and trucks.
This position performs a wide variety of roles, including fabrication, welding, cutting, greasing, housekeeping and other various shop or processing duties.
JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maximize performance of stationary equipment and trucks by performing repairs and ensuring preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and report on the status of ongoing repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERTISE
- Experience repairing and servicing engines required
- Consistently demonstrate an understanding of all plant & departmental safety rules, standards, and programs
- Negotiate uneven terrain, ramps, steps and ladders
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Have ability to understand verbal and written instructions from plant supervisor and efficiently and effectively perform assigned tasks
WORK AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work overtime when required
- Must be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures
- Must be able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear
- May require sitting for extended periods of time
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to climb ladders and to work at heights
- Must be able to move/carry objects up to 50 lbs
- Must maintain current driver’s license that meets state requirements
