JOB DESCRIPTION
SAFETY COORDINATOR
The West Ready-Mix division is looking for a Safety Coordinator to implement, manage, and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet DOT safety regulations.
JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with executing our safety-first strategy and zero accident culture.
- Ensure driver and worksite safety including training, documentation, audits, and reporting.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Assist in safety efforts by researching, planning, developing, and implementing programs and procedures necessary to meet compliance and safety needs.
- Lead safety trainings as needed.
- Communicate to all parties in real time to ensure all safety matters are dealt with timely and accurately.
- Monitor and track compliance with FMCSA requirements, including CSA cores.
- Maintain proper safety records and documentation and communicate to all levels of the organization as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree focused on Occupational Safety, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of experience in DOT safety compliance
- Previous experience with DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA rules and regulations
- Ability to identify and correct safety deficiencies
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Clean and valid drivers license
- Well-organized approach to constant changing working conditions and/or priorities
- Must be punctual, have a strong work ethic, and maintain a good attendance record.
