- Act as a liaison between attorneys and paralegals, ensuring projects are completed accurately and timely and resolve conflicts as needed
- Manage our team of paralegals and assist with assigning projects organizing and prioritizing tasks, caseload, and workflow, and advise on how to resolve conflicts, when they arise
- Help with various personnel decisions, such as hiring/termination, promotions, salaries, reviews, relating to paralegals
- Plans develops, and manages the work of the team by coaching to foster the growth of the team
- Under the direction of the Legal Operations Director, develops and implements processes and procedures to improve team efficiency and productivity.
- Identifies and addresses efficiency, workflow, or personnel issues within the team and works to find solutions that benefit everyone involved; properly escalates issues to Attorneys or Director of Legal Operations, as needed
- Properly manages team resources, including, space, equipment, and personnel, to ensure maximum effectiveness
- Leads and oversees the training of new and existing team members
- Monitors, approves and manages schedules, OT/PTO, timecards, remote working requests, and other likewise requests for the respective team of Paralegals and Legal Assistants
- Acts as a backup with the overflow of paralegal work
- Sets clear expectations and goals for team members and provides regular feedback and coaching
- Addresses issues in performance, work product quality, or other with team members and escalates personnel concerns, as needed
- Conducts periodic performance reviews with the team; engages the appropriate parties to attain necessary information for reviews
- Decision-making, leadership, management, and communication skills are required in this role
- Paralegal certificate from a nationally accredited program preferred
- At least 5 years of experience in a legal leadership role, preferably in a team setting
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as legal administration or management
- Experience with a case management software
- Organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Proficient in using Microsoft Suite and other data entry software
- Experience analyzing company needs, employee development, and goal setting
