What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Optic Technician / Combination Technician position at Farmers Mutual Telephone?
As our companies continue to grow, we are in need of additional employees. We are currently looking for a combination technician. Responsibilities typically include installation and repair of customer premises equipment, diagnosing and repairing trouble in plant and telephone facilities, assist with both fiber and wireless installs, boring, plowing trenching, splicing fiber, assist with maintaining telephone company plant and facility, along with excellent customer service skills . Must be eager to learn and is a self-starter. Much time on the job is spent outdoors. If you’re a quick learner and love working in the outdoors and with people, we want to hear from you.
Daily activities may include, dealing with customers one on one, installing wireless radio at the customers home, which includes extending the network into the home by running CAT5e cable, configuring routers, upgrading and installing radios on tower locations, burying fiber to the customer home, splicing fiber, installing IPTV at the customer home, trouble shooting phone issues with customers, along with checking to see the availability of wireless service to potential new customers along with on-call availability. Every day is different and never the same, which makes this job very interesting.
