- Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, daily specials, and any menu or service changes.
- Prepare pastries, baked goods, desserts, cheeses, non-alcoholic cocktails and other related items for breakfast and/or dinner service, nightly turndown service, and guest amenities.
- Prepare menu items for dessert, cheese selections, fresh baked breads and other menu items as needed for daily service.
- Help maintain dessert and pastry inventory on a daily and weekly basis, ordering supplies to execute pastry/dessert items.
- Assist in educating floor team members on menu item availability, components of each plate preparations, and how to describe each item to dining guests; conducts staff tastings as needed.
- Adhere to Farmhouse Inn standards of quality, based on Executive, Estate, Executive Pastry Chef or Sous Chef’s training on quality and presentation.
- Cooperate with kitchen and food & beverage team members to provide smooth service.
- Practice correct food handling and food storage procedures- maintain current California Food Handlers Card.
- Clean all work surfaces and stations after regular service is complete.
- Stock inventory as appropriate and assess workstation before each shift to ensure station is ready for use.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- CA Food Handlers Card
- Culinary Degree with special emphasis in baking/pastry/desserts or equivalent experience is desired
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a luxury hotel or fine dining establishment.
- Profound knowledge of pastry techniques, baking principles, and dessert presentation.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering consistently high-quality products.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment, including weekends and holidays.
- Excellent customer service and hospitality skills
- Strong oral communication skills. Must be able to speak, read, and write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Ability to work interdepartmentally, with Restaurant, Kitchen, Spa and other Farmhouse teams.
- Team oriented attitude
- Maintains regular attendance, is consistently on time and complies with Farmhouse Inn standards.
- Capability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure, with composure.
- Pushing & Pulling: up to 20lbs frequently and 50lbs occasionally
