Teachers at FMS exhibit outstanding work ethic, integrity, energy, and passion for teaching. FMS is for those who are brave, bold, innovative, and FUN. Education is your priority. Our innovative approach to piano makes lessons more fun to teach, and the learning is more fun for kids.

Most students will be beginners. There are opportunities to provide classical and/or popular style private lessons to students who successfully complete the method books, as well as work with mixed level high school students.

Our teachers demonstrate:

• Belief in our mission of getting "every butt on a bench". (Piano bench, that is).
• Willingness to teach small classes of 4-5 students.
• Availability 2-3 afternoons/evenings per week and/or weekends.
• B.S. in education or music education; or equivalent in piano teaching experience
• Longevity by committing to our studio for at least a year; our top teachers stay for 3 years or more!
• Enthusiasm for developing and teaching summer workshops.
• Ability to provide introductory lesson assessments for lesson readiness
• Proven track record of reliability, professionalism, and creativity
• Willingness to sub for other teachers

Independent contractor teachers are trusted to teach quality music instruction and follow our unique curriculum. FMS provides everything you need to teach: students, equipment, studio space, technology, and any supplementary materials. You bring great energy, enthusiasm, communication, knowledge, experience, and talent!

Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction through a revolutionary piano teaching curriculum that uses Piano Express method books to teach ear training, sight reading, theory, technique, and composition.
• Communicate skills and knowledge efficiently and effectively to students.
• Prepare for each lesson by reviewing teacher guides and assessing student needs.
• Communicate regularly with parents in person, phone, email, or on our client management system about student progress.
• Work with and lead teaching assistants to help students achieve goals.
• Positively encourage students to practice and be their cheerleader.
• Collaborate and problem solve with FMS team to reach studio goals.
• Understand and operate basic MIDI technology, Chromebooks, and Opus1 client management system.
• Be punctual, prepared and a reliable member of the FMS team.

Exceptional teachers have the opportunity to grow their income through different milestones, activities, and achievements.

Teachers receive $25-40 per hour, depending on experience and education. Candidates may be asked to provide videos of piano performances and/or teaching in action.
