We are seeking a seasoned Director of Compliance to lead our trade compliance program and ensure adherence to U.S. import and export laws.
Position Summary : The Director of Compliance will oversee all aspects of trade compliance, ensuring that the company operates in accordance with U.S. and international import / export regulations. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of hands-on experience in aerospace and defense trade compliance, with deep expertise in ITAR, EAR, OFAC, AECA, HTS, Schedule B, and CBP regulations. This role requires a strategic leader with proven experience in managing compliance programs for the sales and purchase of both commercial and military parts.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, and manage the company’s trade compliance program to ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. and international regulations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on U.S. trade laws, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, AECA, HTS, Schedule B, and CBP laws.
- Act as the Empowered Official (EO) for all export and import-related activities, managing licenses, agreements, and compliance documentation.
- Oversee and ensure proper classification of parts under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Schedule B codes.
- Collaborate with sales, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure compliance throughout the sales and purchasing processes for commercial and military parts.
- Develop and maintain trade compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls to mitigate risks.
- Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and investigations to identify compliance gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor changes in trade compliance regulations and provide updates, guidance, and training to internal teams.
- Liaise with government agencies, including the Department of State, Department of Commerce, OFAC, and Customs and Border Protection.
- Manage trade compliance reporting, documentation, and record-keeping to meet regulatory and audit requirements.
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership on compliance program performance and risks.
