SUMMARY:
Schedules and coordinates flow of work within or between various functional departments of the company to expedite production. This includes correspondence between sales, purchasing, engineering, production, and shipping. This person is “the hub of the production wheel”: the individual responsible for verifying that production and shipments are scheduled and completed, on-time, at a level that meets the objective set by the Director of Operations and the President by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Creates master production schedule and generates work orders and completions with appropriate departments.
- Establishes priorities for specific customer orders based on input from sales and the Director of Operations, and also from purchasing, engineering, production, and shipping.
- Revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.
- Reschedules identical processes to eliminate duplicate machine setups.
- Distributes work orders to departments, denoting number, type, and proposed completion date of units to be produced.
- Confers with department supervisors to determine progress of work and to provide information on changes in processing methods received from operations or engineering departments.
- Maintains inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production.
