Patient Care Specialist Role
This role provides essential administrative support for effective patient care, delivering outstanding customer service and fostering strong relationships within the clinic.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service to greet, register, and discharge patients.
- Cross-train and assist with back-office duties as needed within scope of practice.
- Accurately collect and input patient demographics and financial information at registration.
- Verify and update patient insurance information at registration.
- Maintain knowledge of medical insurance plans, including co-pays, deductibles, and coverage limits.
- Collect all insurance, co-pays or deductibles, or self-pay amounts at registration.
- Provide excellent phone service and maintain Fast Pace customer service levels.
- Notify providers of patient arrival and communicate delays to patients and clinical staff.
- Retrieve, fax, or mail medical records to primary care providers as needed.
- Complete mandatory compliance training and follow processes and procedures.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Level 1: High School Diploma or equivalent with CPR license and 1 year of customer experience.
- Level 2: High School Diploma or equivalent with CPR license and 3 years' experience in billing and coding.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- 1 Year of medical office experience with basic medical terminology and insurance knowledge preferred.
