Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients to understand project specifications and provide detailed cost estimates for high-strength fasteners, including labor, material costs, and production time.
- Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications for fastener designs to identify manufacturing requirements.
- Review and evaluate vendor quotations, ensuring all cost components are accurately represented.
- Provide cost estimates for manufacturing processes, including machining, heat treating, plating, coating, and testing, specific to aerospace standards.
- Utilize CAD software (Inventor, Fusion 360) to model and assess cost implications of various fastener designs.
- Cost out CNC parts based on blueprints and technical drawings, taking into account machine setup times, cycle times, tooling, and other factors that influence cost.
- Work with CNC programmers and machinists to ensure cost estimates align with machining capabilities and tolerances.
- Analyze CNC machining requirements and identify costs associated with machine usage, tool wear, labor, and materials.
- Work closely with the engineering team to ensure estimates align with production capabilities and technical requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors for external processes such as heat treating, plating, and coatings.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of accurate cost analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cost estimates align with production and quality standards for aerospace fasteners.
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing Cost Estimator, preferably in the aerospace or high-strength fastener manufacturing industry.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Engineering background with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and cost structures.
- Experience using CAD software (Inventor, Fusion 360) for cost estimation and design analysis.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, cost breakdowns, and reporting.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, heat treating, plating, coating, and other aerospace-specific processes.
- Experience estimating costs for CNC parts, including evaluating machine setup times, cycle times, tooling, labor, and material costs.
- Ability to interpret and analyze blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information to both clients and internal teams.
- Experience working in both independent and team-oriented environments, with the ability to manage workload effectively.
- Strong relationship-building skills with clients, vendors, and team members.
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards, regulations, and quality assurance practices.
- Familiarity with outside processes such as heat treating, plating, and coating specific to aerospace fastener manufacturing.
- Previous experience in the aerospace fastener manufacturing sector.
- Understanding of industry-specific certifications (e.g., AS9100, NADCAP).
- Knowledge of fastener testing and quality assurance processes specific to aerospace applications.
