Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Drug & Alcohol Technician to join our team.
Duties
- Specimen Collection:
- Perform urine, saliva, breath alcohol, nail, DNA or hair sample collection following strict protocols and chain of custody requirements.
- Monitor and supervise collections to prevent tampering or substitution.
- Ensure specimens are sealed and labelled correctly.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Follow federal guidelines (such as DOT regulations) and internal procedures for drug testing collections.
- Complete necessary forms and chain of custody documents accurately.
- Ensure calibration log book of Breath Alcohol Device is maintained at all times.
- Ensure that all paperwork is submitted promptly and correctly to laboratories and/or employers.
- Client Interaction:
- Answer all phone calls and return calls if missed.
- Check emails/fax/voicemail and respond to general queries
- Maintain a professional demeanour while interacting with donors, clients, and employers.
- Provide instructions to donors and answer questions regarding the collection process. Ensure confidentiality and respect for donors throughout the process.
- Specimen Handling and Shipping:
- Properly package and prepare specimens for transport to certified laboratories every day.
- Maintain and monitor specimen storage conditions when needed.
- Quality Control and Reporting:
- Identify and report any collection issues or irregularities.
- Follow safety protocols to prevent contamination or exposure.
- Ensure adherence to alcohol screening procedures when required.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Invoicing in QuickBooks/spreadsheet to be completed by the end of every week.
- Follow up overdue invoices
- Order, maintain inventory of collection supplies/office supplies/pantry supplies and restock as needed.
- Resolve Lab and Medical Review Officer issues
- Ensuring office is clean and trash is removed from dustbins daily.
- Outdoor Collection (if required on ad hoc basis)
- Will require your own transportation
- Mileage and overtime will be provided

Requirements:
- Need to speak and write English and Spanish fluently
- Should have driver’s licence
- Minimum Education: High school
- Prior experience is beneficial in the drug testing industry
- Able to multitask such as answer phone calls while conducting collections.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while demonstrating empathy and compassion towards clients.
- A commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in all interactions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 - $12.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
